Dancing with Missouri Stars - Kickoff
This week, I had my husband take before photos and I weighed myself for the first time since October.
I’m embarking on a dance journey that will be a personal challenge but most importantly will help raise money for the Missouri Contemporary Ballet (MCB). This fundraiser raises approximately a third of their budget. Funds go not only to the company for performances and paying dancers, but also to our School of MCB for their outreach programs, scholarships, and DanceAbility, their program for people with different abilities.
As the sole representative from Jefferson City, I’m aiming to win and also make my hometown proud!
We have solid start!
I’ve been paired with the most experienced dancer, Joel Hathaway. We’ll practice 1-2 hours per week for the next 10-15 weeks until the event on Thursday, May 19th at the Holiday Inn Expo Center. Ticket info coming soon!
Joel & Missy - I might be biased, but I’ve won already with the most fashionable partner!
I have an outstanding support circle and fundraising team which includes:
Joe McFerron, my husband, and owner at Joe McFerron Plumbing
Mitchell Woodrum, my BFF, Brigade S4 for the 35th Engineer Brigade in the Army National Guard, and board member for MCB
Dalton Turner-Woodrum, my favorite chef and Director of Client Relations at C2C Association Management Solutions
Rebecca Rademan, a long-time friend, and Owner at Rademan Communications

PS. How amazing is this mural behind us!? It’s wallpaper. I asked.
What’s next?
I need to order shoes, help plan some fundraising events, fill my event tables, and start practice!
It’s going to come down to one night, two performances both 1 minute and 30 seconds long. There are seven other competing pairs. Yes, I need to perform well, but it also comes down to money - as most things do am I right? If you’d like to support my journey and help me win, stay tuned for more details and ways to donate.
Eeek!
Thank you for reading and being here from the start of this journey with me!
