Going for a W!

We are nearing the one-week countdown to Dancing with Missouri Stars. I, Missy Creed McFerron, the sole JC representative on the COMO stage am going for a W!

Not going to beat around the bush about it. This artistic competition comes down to dolla dolla bills raised and I could really use your support.

Shall I tell you a sad story? We had a fundraiser the other weekend.. a double feature showing at Captiol City Cinema.. and we sold two tickets.. and they were to the same person. He came to both showings! While I’m so appreciative to the Cinema for hosting and purchasing the film rights to both of the movies, and to my fella who was there for both showings, I do still need help! Real-life, not all events turn out as planned, amirite?

So there are a few ways to jump on this train.

  1. Come to Happy Hour this Friday!

  2. Donate dollars, online from your couch in your comfy pants and call it a day.

Missy and Karen Grundy, MCB’s Artistic and Executive Director at the Backdrop in JCMO

What are we fighting for?

Good question. If my sad story didn’t work, perhaps a more real cause might.

The Missouri Contemporary Ballet’s vision is a professional dance company that transforms the community through the joy of dance by providing exceptional performances, professional education, and unique outreach programs.

Off the stage and beyond the School, MCB serves the community through educational and outreach programs that promote creativity, fitness, and build appreciation for the arts.

Examples include...

DanceAbility

Children and adults with different abilities learn and explore the world of dance through MCB’s Danceability initiative. This first-of-its-kind program in the area was designed by physical therapists in collaboration with MCB dancers – who lead the classes together – to meet the students’ unique needs and abilities.

Danceability provides a safe and supportive learning environment where people with different abilities can grow and develop their skills.

DanceReach

At-risk youth study for free with an MCB dancer once a week during the school year through DanceReach, our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia.

These youth have an opportunity to learn different types of dance, build their skills and fitness, and expand their horizons. The culmination of their hard work is the chance to perform on stage for a live audience at MCB events.

Scholarships for Youth in Need

The School of MCB offers scholarships to aspiring kids who want to study dance but whose families can not afford the tuition. Each year, scholarship funds are awarded to local youth in need, ages 8 to 18, to provide them with the opportunity to study at our school.

MCB Values: Developing bodies, Promoting health, Creating beauty, Provoking joy, Stimulating minds, Building communities, Crossing boundaries, Nurturing collaboration, Celebrating differences, Embracing social justice
